Hello, everyone! Today, I'd like to share a short and funny story with you. It's perfect for a three-minute English speech.
Once upon a time, there was a man who loved fishing. One day, he went to a lake early in the morning with his fishing rod and some bait. After hours of waiting, he finally caught a big fish. Excited, he put the fish into his bucket and continued fishing. A few minutes later, he caught another fish, then another one. He was having an amazing day!
As he was packing up his things to go home, he noticed someone walking along the shore. This person seemed very curious about what he had in his bucket. So, the curious person asked, "What do you plan to do with all those fish?"
The fisherman replied, "I'm going to sell them at the market."
The curious person said, "But how will you carry all these fish back home? They're heavy!"
The fisherman smiled confidently and said, "Oh, don't worry. I have a plan. I'll just tell everyone that they’re magic fish—they’ll jump back into the water once we get home!"
The curious person laughed and said, "That’s quite clever!"
The next day, the fisherman returned to the lake. When he arrived, he saw the same curious person sitting on the shore. The person called out to him, "Did your magic trick work yesterday?"
The fisherman nodded proudly. "Yes, it did! Everyone believed me, and I sold all my fish!"
The curious person grinned and said, "Well done! But tell me—how are you going to explain today’s catch?"
The fisherman thought for a moment and replied, "Hmm... I guess I’ll say they’re super-magic fish. Not only do they jump back into the water, but they also multiply!"
The curious person burst out laughing and said, "Good luck with that!"
And so, the fisherman went back home, feeling very pleased with himself. Of course, no one ever bought his fish again after that.
This story teaches us that sometimes, being too clever can backfire. Always remember to keep it simple and honest!
Thank you for listening, and I hope you enjoyed this little tale as much as I enjoyed sharing it with you. Have a great day!
